Susan Williamson is Inupiaq Yupik Alaska Native. Raised in the lower 48 with her military family, Sue grew up at the last tour of duty in Sacramento California. Sue is active in many communities which was modeled well to her by her parents.
Sue has been part of the Circle Center since its creation serving as an elder and member of the original Circle Center board of directors. She continues to be a supporter of the Circle process which is rooted in Native American practices. Sue has held a variety of careers: producer, control board operator and voice work in the radio industry and also working within the public education systems in Wyoming and Tennessee. Sue served as a civil servant in the tribally controlled school systems in the Federal Bureau of Indian Education. Sue enjoyed being on committees to further the input of community needs with the students, teachers and administrators, earning the Excellence in Education Award in Natrona County, Wyoming. After retiring from the civil service with Bureau, Sue says she is still learning and growing, enjoying her time with her husband John, their four grown children and four grandkids.
